Travelinck in China 

Travelinck is an Anglo-Dutch company based in Leiden. The founders of the company are a sinologist and a cultural anthropologist (Leiden University). They have been visiting China regularly since 1984.

Travelinck became established after responding to as a special request from a small group of people who wanted a unique trip to China. A tour was organised to cycle across the Eastern Tibetan Highlands, well off the tourist routes and amongst the nomadic horsemen who jokingly tried to barter an exchange of a horse for a bike. The route went through exquisitely beautiful national parks with spectacular natural formations and exclusive wildlife (panda bears). From this successful start more bike tours were developed including the imposing Lhasa-to-Kathmandu route which was cycled for several years running.

Specialising and concentrating only on China, Travelinck has developed unique trips for unique groups over the years. All of the routes have a special theme or interest. Apart from the cycle routes, Travelinck has also marketed classical Chinese garden trips, modern Chinese art trips, architecture trips, educational trips for universities and hogescholen (compatible to and a consistent part of modules given by institutions) and recently a taijiquan trip.

For instance, China is a gastronomical delight. The many climates over this massive area mean a variety of produce which each area has worked into regional specialities – so this is what we offer on the tours. Also, Travelinck clients are not only interested in the traditional highlights (which tend to be from the past), but they appreciate the opportunity to have some contact with the street-life of everyday China. Furthermore, as much variety as possible is built into the itineraries to give as wide an impression as possible of this fascinating country.
