10-day art trip to China
October 2009
In the last fifteen years, interest in modern art from China has increased phenomenally. At auctions, record prices have been paid for a new generation of artists from China. During this trip an impression will be given about the contemporary situation in modern Chinese art. Artists will be visited in their studios where informal conversation with the artist will give an idea of their background, sources of inspiration and vision. In both Beijing and Shanghai there will be visits to galleries in areas where artists have gathered together such as the wool factory and its former warehouses on the Moganshan Lu by Suzhou Creek in Shanghai. We have chosen the areas where the government has no influence on the free expression of the artist. Furthermore, there will be visits to some excellent museums of modern art.
And, of course, the itinerary will include a number of the cultural highlights, like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City in Beijing and will give a taste of a dynamic, modern metropolis on the Bund in Shanghai.
This trip is organised by Travelinck and K+A gallery. If you are interested in the trip, please leave your name on the list in K&A Gallery which will be at the gallery from the opening on 10th May onwards. E-mail and telephone contact is also welcome at
